Home and away

First time on a plane in FOURTEEN MONTHS! It felt strange and yet so familiar, as if I could once again have been jetting off somewhere exotic, to stay in a fancy hotel, swanning around doing fun things and seeing lovely places...

Except this time I’m going somewhere I’ve often been, sleeping in a living room, eating takeaways, and the high point of the day being a visit to an impressively good supermarket. Where I photographed this clue for you to guess my location:

Well, that’s a familiar label, and US labels are standard, so I suppose in the US. But the only thing I can imagine would put you on a plane is a funeral, and that would make sense with sleeping on a couch.
Ah - but a search of cheese rolls puts you in southern New Zealand. Still hope it’s not a funeral.

Full marks, Queen. Yes, Southland and yes, a funeral. Always somber events but not terribly sad this time as Jim was 99 and had dementia. But a good time to remember him in the good old days.
